A new fitness center has opened this spring in Scott County.  Located at 1233 North Gardner Street in Scottsburg, XFit is one of the newest fitness centers in the county, providing group exercise workouts to both men and women.  Owners Adrianna Caudill Lucas and Kelly Couch Moyer began renting out an old church space in early April and officially opened their doors to the public on May 20 as XFit.

Lucas and Moyer lead the majority of the classes at XFit with the help of some other coaches along the way.  Although most classes are taught in a group setting, they also offer private yoga classes taught by Bree Ramer.  Lucas is currently in nursing school, and Moyer is a BeachBody coach. While both are into fitness themselves, they wanted something more to help others do the same.

“We’ve talked about opening a space for years,” said Lucas.  “Fitness is something we are both truly passionate about, and we want to help others achieve their fitness goals.”

For Moyer, fitness was something that she became disciplined about after a scary family situation in which she donated one of her kidneys.

“My cousin needed a kidney, and I was a perfect match,” Moyer said.  “After that, health and fitness became very important to me and a priority in my life.”

After becoming more involved in fitness, Moyer went on to become a BeachBody coach to help others get their health in order or to meet their own health and fitness goals.

XFit offers a variety of group exercise classes including Yoga, Spin, Pound, Insanity, and Core de Force.  Classes run Monday through Thursday, as well as on Saturday; Friday and Sunday are considered their rest days.  They run 3 consecutive classes a day starting at roughly 6:00 to 8:00 PM. They also offer a morning spin class at 5:30 AM on Monday through Thursday, and a spin class at 7:15 AM on Saturday.  Each class costs $7, but the first class is always free! They also have monthly memberships available for $80 a month, or a punch card with 10 classes for $60.

“We provide a sweat towel, yoga mat, and water for each class,” said Lucas.  “All you have to do is show up and be ready to work.”

Monthly member, Marcy Prather, has been with XFit from the beginning.

“What is here at XFit is different. I love that these ladies step outside of their comfort zone,” Prather said referring to the XFit coaches.  “It’s made me step outside of my comfort zone so that I can be the best version of myself. When you take care of your body, you take care of your mind as well.”

Although they are just starting out, Lucas and Moyer have big future plans in mind for their gym.  They hope to expand their XFit brand by hosting self-defense classes. Another future goal is providing healthy meal services to those with memberships.

You can follow along with XFit on Instagram @xfitscottsburg; each day they post their schedule in the stories. They also have a Facebook page where you can see their schedule and book classes in advance.

To book your first class for free, head over to the XFit Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/xfitllc/.  Click the “Book Now” button to schedule your class and use the code: TRYXFITFREE for your free first class.   They also take walk-in’s, but spin classes tend to fill up quickly, so make sure to book ahead.
